My current squirrel gun is a Marlin 880SS in .22 LR with a Bushnell 2-12X scope.
I'll still use it some next season but I want to put a scope on my model 970 Taurus Tracker .22 LR and see how I do with that. I'm planning on hunting deer with a handgun next year and I figure popping squirrels with a revolver would be good practice. For ammo, I like the Winchester Super X hollowpoints that come in a brick of 500. They're loaded to standard velocity and they're a little more accurate in my rifle than the high velocity stuff. They used to sell them at Wal-Mart, but I've been having a hard time finding them lately.

Scoped air rifle and peanut butter on a tree about 1-1/2' above the ground facing your window. Great back stop, and they expose their backs to you as they go for the PB.

I've also found wrist rocket quite effective - go with 5/8" glass marbles from the dollar store.

Actually last squirrel I got I used High Voltage Electricity....
Little bugger forgot to jump from the transformer to the pole....and made contact with both.....I don;t like crispety squirrel though last one I actually shot was using a pellet gun, in my basement.... ![]()

That's why I'm switching over to a handgun.
Even with a scoped rifle, where I hunt squirrels aren't exactly easy. It's just too thick. I've never shot a limit and getting them to stand still in the open for a shot is more difficult than you'd think.

Use a .22mag when in the woods but shoot a lot more with my RWS pellet gun. Can't stand those little tree rats destroying my bird feeders.
