What are you looking to have done? For anything elaborate my first go-to smith would be EGW in Quakertown.

If you're just looking for something basic, try this guy:

Bob's Gunsmithing

120 Holly Dr
Downingtown, PA, 19335
(610) 873-2062

He did the ambi safety on my wife's Kimber, and he did a good job.

This is for the Stainless GI? if so you won't have to worry about refinishing, all that shouldn't be too hard, EGW will take probably a 3 month minimum, but their work is top notch. Bob is local, will still do a good job, and probably won't have the back log that EGW has.

All that being said, I'd still go with EGW, but give Bob a call and see what he quotes you for the work. FCO sends guns to Bob for repairs, so it's not like he's a hack job or anything, but the 1911 is EGW's bread and butter and George up there is a stand up guy, he bent over backward for me on two problematic Kimbers.

i've used and will continue to use john harrison in georgia. a true gentlemen, and you would be hard pressed to find another smith for the 1911 better than him. check out his website under harrison design and consulting. you won't be sorry.
