instead of installing a muzzle brake, try a few things first.

-shoot the lighter grain bullets a little while at the range, get accustomed to the recoil

-install a recoil/decelerator pad

-upgrade a factory stock...
all of these can help with recoil, w/o losing your hearing...muzzle brakes, especially when hunting can cause hearing loss...

just my $.02

is the problem for you, the recoil or the scope getting you?
just wondering, the eye relief on those scopes is minimum, if you went to a scope w/ more eye releif, and upgraded from a factory stock, you would be suprised at the difference. i would suggest these over a muzzle brake.
i love the 338, and the recoil from anything 225 gr and lower is very manageable and you should be able to learn to shoot it well.
the savage accutrigger, is an excellent trigger, and savage makes a good, reliable, and accurate rifle, should be worth it to sink a few dollars in her, when you get it to where you are shooting her well...you are gonna LOVE the 338, very versatile, from deer, up to elk, bear, etc...truly a one rifle for north america hunting cartridge...
good luck, hope this helps, ...or even makes sense to you

the 250's...yeah they can kick like a mule...lol

for strictly deer, you can go with 200 gr ballistic tips, 210 nosler partitions, 225 fusion, 225 cor lokt, for the bigger stuff, the 225 gr a frames are about perfect, imo.

you will see, and more importantly, feel, a big difference, compared to the 250's

all of these are factory loads, so if your shop does not stock any, they can get it for you...
try a few of these, whichever shoots best...use it.
my preference is 225's for everything, i use 225 federals fusion for deer, and remingtons 225 a frames for the bigger things...they print almost identical from my rifle, so no re-sighting is needed.
