Default Smith in Gettysburg area....or close by

Seems nobody knows any smiths around G'burg, or can recommend Shupps in York.

How about John Yanek in Schnecksville or Al Marvel in Jarrettsville, MD? Anybody know about these guys?

I'm looking for a smith to do 1911 work I can't do at the house...don't have the luxury of my friends gun shop anymore. It was nice to do the work myself and only pay for parts!

I'm willing to drive a couple hours if the guy is well recommended.

hzox221 thanks......but like most of the smiths I've been in contact with he is not taking on anymore work.

Looks like the 1911 facelift will have to wait.

EGW and Jim Garthwaite have both been recommended to me. Garthwaite was the 2004 Pistolsmith of the year, according to his website. I have never used either of them. There is a guy in Mercersburg, I think other people here have used him and I have a friend that used him and recommend him to me. I think his name is Don Horowitz. There is a guy on emmitsburg rd I think, but I think he mainly (only?) does single action revolvers (read: cowboy action)
