Default Mosin Nagant magazine?

Has anyone attempted to build a detachable magazine for a Mosin Nagant? I am just asking in case there are any talented gunsmith types here that wanted to tackle this (and split the commission on sales of my idea).

If it were semi-auto, I would think you could modify the PSL but since it is a bolt, what would you want with a larger mag? Now, if you can figure out how to price the PSL like a Mosin, I'll be your best friend for life.

the mausers have a 20rd fixed mag , they called it the trench mag or something .......i think it would be cool to have a 20rd mosin , less reloading

my one buddy attempted to put a dragonov detachable mag in his m44 and realized the mag is as wide as the reciever so he gave up on the attempt said it would need too much reciever work. anyone make a single stack mag in 54r? i thought about trying to weld 2 factory mags together and seeing what i can make work non detachable though

The m-44's we have are single stack. They also only hold 5 rounds. Of course my mauser only holds five.

The enfeild is cool because it has more capacity and detachable mags, so if you have a few you can shoot more without reloading. Of course I shoot my bolt guns really slow anyway.

just need to mill out the feed lips to allow the mag to feed from its own feedlips.

this is a common procedure in converting bolt guns to take dual position feed mags.

I was just considering the idea since the 91/30 has the floor plate that opens and possibly a magazine could be adapted. Just wondering.

Same here.. I love the Enfield mags but like you, I don't shoot them fast enough anyway. I'm guessing that the reload speed of a mag is much better than that of a stripper clip. At least it is for me.. I can't seem to feed my Mosin very quickly with the stripper clips. My SKS stripper clips work much better. The K31 chargers work a lot better for me.

A small mag and a scope on the Mosin M38 would be a lot of fun though.

Some good info here, I need to find a smith or metal-magician to tack me up an extension onto these steel shotgun mags I have.

Heres a thought the floor plate opens right? so, why nout cut off the floor plate and weld on an extention and make a dropping floor plate on that??? also the factory mag has a detent to keep one round to go in the chamber.
