I'm sorry for your lose.

I have had the pleasure of working on and servicing several Glocks with the LaserMax guide rod. I think its a great sight but they make the gun extremely difficult to field strip. What I have found that seems to work fairly well is.

Disclosure: Before working on any firearm make sure it is unloaded.

1. Pull the trigger.
2. Draw the slide back a hair (1/16-1/8 of an inch max), any more then 1/4" and the trigger starts to reset itself. Center the slide lock and push down making sure both sides are pushed down all the way and slide the slide forward.

If you are still having difficultly, place the front of the slide against a table or desk and use your stomach to hold the pistol with light pressure. Doing it this way, you now have two thumbs instead of one. Use your thumbs to press each side of the slide lock down. Using both thumbs gives you a little bit more power.

I used to own a Lasermax in my G23 but I got rid of it because it was too buggy. No malfunctions, it just would go on or off during recoil.

The springs lasermax uses are much stiffer and I had problems field stripping the lasermax equipped Glock. I was able to still do it the normal way but you have to really press down hard on the little slide bar thing that turns the lasermax off and on.

Is there any chance that you do not have the spring completly seated. This could make depressing it much more difficult. Just a thought.
