Hey, Archie and Black Wolf, nice to hear your responses, even if the thread is getting old. Not a problem, as far as I'm concerned. It seems that us owners of these Riverside Arms are few and far between. Or at least it would appear that way.

Black Wolf67, since your computer got wiped out, did you get a chance to look back over this thread and review the reply that I had posted for you a while back. Take a look at that again when you get the chance; I had a few questions there.

Archie, that gun you have looks very similar to the one I have. The only different thing I noticed at the first glance was the stock. Is that a replacement from the original? What gauge is your gun? Mine is a 16 gauge.

Hiya S&W

Sorry for missing your post and you are welcome on the info

I figure yours is closest to the 525 being it lacks the extra screw like mine and is a 16 gauge. Also it has Browning stamp indicating that it has the Browning patent slide action.

I could be wrong though and upon ordering parts ask if numrich can verify that they are a match to Riverside parts? They probably know as i'm sure it has come up before.

The other guns didnt seem to be listed in 16 gauge and have the four screws like mine.

The book is the revised 8th edition of Modern Guns, identification & values by Russell and Steve Quertermous

Hope this helps all

Mine is a 12 gauge.

Black Wolf, what I meant by the SXS is I have a side by side(SXS) double barrel made by Riverside.

The stocks on both of those are replacements.

Both of those pictured are Riverside 12 gauge, Archie?

I do new searches time to time to see if any more info has hit the web on Riverside and will bump up this thread as long as it exists, if/when any more info comes to light?

Found any info on the side by side?

The top one in the pic is a Stevens. The SXS is supposed to be the same as a Stevens(I forget the model) so was prolly made by Stevens under the Riverside name. Maybe both were. All the SXS has on it is Riverside Arms Co. Chicopee Falls, Mass. U.S.A. On the right side it has pat. Apr 15-1915.

Not a good pic but that's it in the middle.

ISBN stands for International Standard Book Number. It is an identification number that is assigned by the Library of Congress to each book that gets copywrighted in the United States. The ISBN number is usually printed somewhere on one of the first pages of the book along with all of the publisher's info and copywright info, somewhere before the title page. Some books have two ISBN numbers: an ISBN-10 and an ISBN-13. If your book has both of those, then I would like to have both of those if that's ok with you. Also, sometimes the ISBN number is listed on the back cover of the book, just below the bar code. Depending how old it is though, it might only have one ISBN number. If I have the ISBN number, I can positively identify the right book if I would want to buy one online from an bookstore like www.half.com. That's where I buy a most of my college books.

blackwolf, et al--Would bet the gun is basically a Stevens M520 They made this gun under a variety of names (mine is a 16ga marked 'Westernfield'). My barrel is also marked 'Brownings Patent'.

My gun has the same problem--a 'smith told me it is a spring that is broken. I'll see if I can find out what name is for the part & post it here (never had mine fixed(--
