| Gun Shows Nothing beats a gun show for finding great deals on knives and beef jerky, and occasionally firearms as well. |

Aparentally I was not the only one that thought this was a major dissapointment. Not only that but I thought that the prices were a little high. Maybe it's me being cheep, but I can't see myself paying $1,100.00 for an M1 that looked it was just dug up off the battlefield.

Living here in York, I always attend the show at the fairgrounds and have found many bargains and quite a bit of junk also.
I went to the Timmonium show last year for the first time and it was like I was in a different world. Prices were SKY high and there was more junk than you could shake a stick at. The Timmonium show is NOTHING like the York show. As always YMMV. John |

Haven't been to a Maryland show in quite a while, so I can't draw comparisons, but I usually try and get to the York show and am seldom disappointed. Don't blame a crappy Maryland show on the promoter or the dealers... blame it on the Central Committee of the Maryland Communist Party (oh, I mean the Democrat controlled state government). C'mon guys - come spend your money in the free Commonwealth of Pennsylvania :-)
The York show is so close to home it's almost a no-brainer for me, but I've found enough deals over the past couple of years that I'd probably drive a ways if I had to. Last deal I got was a really nice K31 for $100 OTD... seller even threw in a box of ammo. Finances are tight right now, but I'll probably trundle over this weekend anyway... even If I walk away empty handed it's a fun way to spend an afternoon. Yeah... like that'll happen :-)

This promoter is moving into Maryland shows and has taken over various shows which were run by Preston Jones. Jones' shows were mixed hunting, fishing, trinket shows and it will take time for them to built up the kind of show which they run in Pa. I drive from MD. for all of their shows within a couple of hours drive and they have always been good. YORK is often TOO GOOD - crowded beyond belief. These are good GUN SHOW promoters but they are not able to instantly change the nature of a show. It will take time. I am a serious COLLECTOR and have not gone to a Jones show for many years. They were not that kind of show. With the new promoters the show will change. The previous comments about the Timonium show reflect my experience as well. I won't be going to these shows for a year or 2 to let them build up. I NEVER MISS THE PA. SHOWS IF I CAN GET THERE.

I'm going to check out the York Gun Show for the first time, hope to see you there. It is a given that a lot of crap will be on display, but that's alright I always seem to find the things I need at gun shows. And I agree I never walk away empty handed and it is a fun way to spend an afternoon indeed! Take care, Rand |

Don't forget to make time to check out what Top Hat has to offer.
And I would assume that STUBBY will be there, don't forget to support our own.
