Default *Finally* Finished My German K98k & AK-GP WASr

Tonight I got off work an hour early, because I maxed out of hours, and like the mad man that I am started fitting my rifles back together.

Okay, here's the before pictures.

Only post-production pic I can come up with.

Now, laddies, and gentle men the after.

Well my eye balls are killing me, and so I think it is my bed time. I can sleep better now knowing I'm safe in case a grizzly bear broke into my house for now having a fully assembled 8mm german mauser with a loaded clip stashed.

Awesome job on the Mauser stock. May i ask what you used to remove the old finish? I never got quite that clean of a stock but i stuck with just mineral spirits and elbow grease.

Well I used my forbidden method which although works is considered just wrong, and bad to use on any, especially old gun stocks: Several applications of spray on easy off (waiting 20 mins for it to eat in, after that whipping it off with a rage), and then a high pressured water rinse after the final easy off application.

I actually tried an actual finish remover product first, and the results were completely retarded.

Great JOB!!!! I use the ol' EZ Off method as well. I spray it on and let it sit for about five minutes, then hose it off. Let the wood dry and start sanding. Can't beat it, compared to everything else I have tried. Again, great job on the rifles. If anyone has not tried fixing up an oldy, buy a cheap shotgun from your local shop or a C and R rifle and plan on spending a few nights in the garage. You will enjoy yourself.

Yes, and a gun you have worked hard on also holds a much nicer sentimental value.

I think this is a nice picture of me, and it's the happiest I ever looked in any of my pictures.

nice looking guns.....
you know, if you take pictures outside in good indirect sunlight, you will be able to bring out a lot more of the detail in your guns. especially the woodwork, which looks very sharp from what i can see.
