I love lever actions, and really love the Marlin 1894.

It's your rifle, but IMO it's perfect as is for a carry gun. It already has lots of character with the blueing thin or gone in areas and the few rust pits and such. I like it as it stands. Again IMO all you need to do is pull that white spacer and it will have the classic look of an 100-yr-old 1894.

Just do what you have to in order to make sure it finctions OK. Disassemble, clean, and oil the action innards and bore, and wipe down the metal with Corrosion-X or FP-10 and you're good to go.

Now THAT'S your most inexpensive option!

Sweet!
I love lever action guns.
I had a Marlin 30-30, when I was a kid. I miss that gun.
Congrats, and have fun.

Nice Marlin EM. I have one that I have had for about 20 years.
For the .38's, and for that matter the .357's, watch the nose shape of the bullets in the rounds you use, the flatter and wider they are the harder they feed.
I need to get some of the new Hornady ammo for them some day.
Also, if you want a blast and some punch for it, IMI made some 170gr. .357 mag +P ammo years ago in both soft point and FMJ.
It's pretty hot stuff. It shows up at shows every once in a while.
Enjoy!

I just noticed that has the "Micro-groove" rifling... Do not shoot lead bullets in that thing. Well, unless you like bad accuracy within 5-10 shots and days of scrubbing lead there after.

Congrats my westie friend.

I have the Marlin 336XLR in 30-30 I love shooting it I just wish I had a decent long range range close to home, the 55 feet at SPAG doesn't do the gun justice.

Now git ya a 10 gallon hat and have fun.

Bill

Woo hoo, congrats on finding your lever gun! It's not "beat-up", those are battle scars

You'll love it. I have a Ruger 96 lever gun in 44mag and it's so fun to shoot. I have a scabbard on my tractor for it. It gets used as a hammer sometimes, dispatches snakes once and a while, kills a groundhog on occasion and opens beer bottles beautifully. I would post a pic but some of you guys might think less of me due to its pathetic appearence. Your new find is 100 percent better condition than mine is, mine is only twelve tears old, looks like 120 hard years.

Brad
