Chris,
I do not think a steady diet of standard(non plus P) ammo would be a problem at all. I read years ago about post war P38 failures and believe me they had a lot of rounds thru them. Also not known was whether standard ammo or ammo for their sub machineguns(MPK and MPL) were used. If they were using hotter subgun ammo it could have been a mitigating factor in frame failures and one that you should not see with the use of standard pressure ammo.
