Holy Jeebus it is cold out! Took forever to warm up my Garage (detatched). Got the parkerizing done anyhow.

Park tank..and other garbage, boy I really got to organize that mess out there.

Freshly parked and sopping with oil.

Bolt, Magaizine and barrel....on the bolt only the handle was blued, so I only parked the back...real pain holding it in near boiling solution...got a little hot.

Now on to the wood.....to be continued....

Thanks for the comments guys.

A little delayed ...work..weird hours this week. Going to hit the wood next, already have the wood degreased pretty good, and 2 of the four pieces stripped of varnish.

Need more free time!....

Updates will be comeing in a few days.

Damn i am really inspired to build one. My father has one, but the (if i re-call correctly) the shell ejector is broken? I am not familar with this rifle, can someone explain to possibly what malfunction can this be? can i just order a whole new bolt, does this problem even lie within the bolt?

QUESTION! about the front site! Is it hard to take off the barrel? Do i need special tooks outside of a good vice?

i got the pic from gun broker, but that is pretty much my fathers enfield. If you notice the front site and bayo lug, i believe it is the same one as yours as well. Now i have also found enfields that have a front like this.....

looks competly different. Whats the difference between the two models? And do i need to be aware of that when i buying replacement parts?

Basically the lower one is an earlier model. The No1 MK3 and used by a few other designations. The top pic is the No4 MK1 or MK2, it is a later model. Roughly you could say WW1 was the bottom one and WW2 was the top one, for the Brits at least. This is just to give you a rough idea, alot more history with them. Check out these links.

I am no carpenter....stripping the wood really showed how beat up it is...lots of dents and scratches...well for something made in 1943 it's not to bad.

First round....stripping and scrubbing..hot water, worked pretty good too.

Rinse lather repeat.

How do you get rid of dents and dings in wood? STEAM!

A wet washrag with a steam iron over the dents.....I was able to raise a few smaller ones to near invisible, some of the deeper nastier ones are still visible but not as bad as they were.

The wood doesn't look like the day it left the factory.....but about like a well used Mil-surp.

Hand rubbed in Some Danish oil, all the hot water, stripping and scrubbing really raised some grain.

Rubbed the Oil in with 400 grit sandpaper....while it has its dings, dents and discolorations here and there....the wood is smoother than a baby's bottom.

I like the low gloss Tung Oil finish......after it dries I'll hit it with some wax....seal it up good and give it protection.

That is really looking good. Cant wait to see it all put together. I like the tung oil finish also, I did my sks stock with it. As far as the dings and dents, they give a mil-surp character.
