Default The AR / AK debate

...is useless, so here is a pic of my AR and AK.
20" chrome lined 1x9 DPMS barrel, YHM FF Quad rail and YHM gas block / flip up front. DTI lower.

AK is a SAR2. The scope is on for this pic but we prefer the red dot.

they are designed to be fired from the hip, so you can use one on either side

AR fans, don't be upset about my answer but...

The AR gets grabbed first so I can take headshots from a distance. Also, the AK is my 12 yr old daughter's favorite gun so she called dibs while we were watching "28 Days Later." However, once the AR jams (ducks for flying objects) or once they get within 50yds I'll pull out my RPK and let my daugter keep blasting away with the AK. haha

The SAR2 is the 5.45mm ammo so it's just the right size for a 12yr old girl and the red dot makes it nice. The RPK is 7.62 so hopefully the kids will think it's a bit too much for them.

I'm working on trying to get the wife to the range. I have a SIG Mosquito .22LR that I got to train the kids with. They love it (age 12 and 9) so they are trying to help pursuade mom to come out and learn to shoot. If I can get her to start with our .22LR rifle or SIG Mosquito, I think she will get over her aprehension.

If she still balks after shooting the .22LR I'll have her shoot the Mosin Nagant once and give up. LOL (then take her to have her shoulder fixed)
