Default A Mosin Sniper Rifle

I've been after one of these postwar mosin PSOP sniper rifles for a while, and yesterday at the harrisburg gun show I spotted one between a bunch of nice m1 garands. I tested the action, and it sucks. It sucks! sucks! sucks! suck! but the rifle all together along with the price for the 7.61x54r ammo is just way to awesome for me to pass up. After the guy behind the counter told me it is the last once he had left that was it - I said I'll take it.

Here are a few pictures, and if anyone knows anything I should know based on them that I may not please speak.

Post production.
My Kitty cat died during this process, moment of silence.

Awesome!

Does the action "suck" from a purely functional standpoint, or is it about the ergonomics?

I guess I'm talking about the ergonomics, because I was really saying that they all suck in general. Although right now there's cosmo all over the chamber/bolt.
Anyway it turns out that this is looking like a fake, but as long as if can function well this won't bother me.

Please, define fake as it applies to this situation? I'm confused, because you stated it is a post war assembled sniper config. If you were told it was WW2 issued with original scope, and it wasn't then it would be fake. Genuine WW2 issued scoped Mosins (all original) can go for $800 or more. This one was put together after the war, probably with post war parts. It's a good looking piece, probably be a good shooter. If you have any, try light ball ammo, it'll be a little easier on your shoulder.

One of the best ways to spot a "fake" (meaning someone took the time to mount the scope, rather than the Russies) is take a good hard look at the bolt. Please post a few closeups of the bolt, specifically at the handle. While its hard to define what consititues a fake, if its a hack job then its probably a "fake."

Fake or not, its a damn good looking rifle. And if memory serves correctly, Russian sniper rounds are of the light ball variety.

I barely get enough time to sleep during the week so please pardon me for my absences. Now as you guys said it's a fine rifle still, but going by the information PArifleman has supplied me with it's obviously a fake based on the comparison pics. There's absolutely no doubt about it. Worse case is now I have an awesome sniper repro shooter. Now I'll just have to cry over the M1 Garand that I just got from CMP.

Nice! I do like to get my hand on one of them...

How clear is the scope? I've heard that some if those PE(russian copy of Zeiss scope I guess?) scope can be bit foggy after so many yeas...
