Can you really purchase armor-piercing ammo easily or are they just misrepresenting the truth?

I believe its pretty easy and not too expensive to boot.

Just look around for Steel Core rounds.

I doubt very much that it truly was AP. Even if it was, it doesn't matter, because ALL 7.62x39 will go through the soft body armor of the police....

Police departments use this as a reason to request surplus AR-15s and tanks, making them look less like local police forces and more like an occupying army.

I'm sure they used the term "armor piercing" to easily explain that it can go through body armor to the non gun person.

Is this the story? http://blog.pennlive.com/patriotnews...n_ho.html#more

Man, I hope the anti don't use this as a political tool to ban all "AW". What this punk doing make legal gunowners look bad. All the letters that you write ain't gonna appease the public hysterical emotions. In this case, mass hysterical win over reason every time. I am wordless, man. What the bleep is world is coming too?

Police wear soft armor. I somehow don't think any agency would issue hard plates.

Almost all rifle rounds will go through soft armor, cept a .22
Hard plates will stop anything upto a .30 AP round as long as you have soft armor behind it. That means 7.62x39x51, .223, etc.

Chinese steel core have no purpose. They won't penetrate plates, but will for soft armor. But any 7.62x39 will. When AK pistols came out they banned import of Chinese steel core ammo, because it could be fired out of a pistol and peirce soft armor. But I'm pretty sure any 7.62x39 will. It doesn't make any sense.

Real AP rounds are handgun rounds that will penetrate soft armor (teflon coated, tungsten cored, etc). Since plates/hard armor is so high tec now very few common rifles will penetrate it. So Rifle AP ammo is basically pointless in AW caliber rifles. In a .50 cal obviously it will punch through even more than a regular round will.

I live right here in the Harrisburg area and saw the news footage of his capture. I'm pretty sure he was a gang member. When they brought him out of the house (cuffed in front, which I thought was a little odd), he raised his hands above his head and the news had his hands blurred out. He was either flipping the bird or flashing a gang symbol.

The news did refer to him as having a "semi-automatic assault weapon". Boo for calling it an assault weapon, but kudos for at least getting the semi-automatic part correct!

Hope they fry his ass good. Punk like this make gun owners look bad. The prison in China would be willing to take these punks in for 1/10 the cost of operating the prisons here (I don't know the blog site that cite this, it was a while back). I would vote for politician that propose these measures. Lock up the criminals, not making law to infringe people rights.

I kind of wish the Police played "Judge, Jury, Executioner" It would have saved us Taxpayers a lot of money.
