Default Defeat AWB Through UNITY!!

This was posted on Glocktalk and wanted to share it with you all!

Intro: We clobbered James Zumbo in three days. Us, the gun boards and the posters on the boards. It scared the antis so bad they’re still lying about it.

Point 1: The gun boards were the reason the word got out so quick. We need that resource to help crush the Brady Bunch. Therefor we need to support them financially and help them grow and attract more people.

Point 2: We have pro gun organizations that work for our rights, but they are limited by numbers and money. If we can triple their numbers, and have them work together, and support them with e-mails, calls, and letters, they will be MUCH more effective. Helping with small amounts of money will increase their ability to fight more battles.

Point 3: Know the Bradys, their lies and their antics. Be ready to help notify through the boards, help national and state organizations, and be ready to fight on the local level.

Point 4: With the current rash of gun control at the city, state and national level, the antis have given us ammo to inform the hunter half of gun owners that the antis are out for their guns too.

And Jim Zumbo has already started what he promised. See his letter attached below. If we can put him back were we took him from, we can gain a great spokesman to bring the hunters into the second amendment. Remember that split helped pass the earlier AWB.

Point 5: We need unity, all across the board.

Point 6: Just some private thoughts.

Summary: Attack, never give up.

Attachment and James Zumbo’s Letter to the Senate.

For fuller thoughts, read below.

===============

On Presidents Day Weekend, we as individuals, acting independently, without direction from others, (yes, the same thing, three different ways++), and with a new means of communication, (the internet,) did something that is still terrifying politicians and antigun groups. In the space of four days, we took a man, Jim Zumbo, gave him national, if not international, recognition, and let it be known that if our own betrayed us, they were going to feel the heat.

The terror is shown the number of people who blame the NRA for Jim’s downfall. Those of us who were a part of that long weekend, know that the NRA was one of the last to officially “jump on the bandwagon.” The reason for the terror is shown in the power of a bunch of outraged people who have nearly instantaneous communication, and can find out something, understand the implications, act to spread the word, and then act to apply the pressure. It’s called grassroots, and the Brady Bunch use it all the time. This time, they saw the power involved, compared it to their own, and reached the conclusion that they had NO way to equal that kind of power. So in an effort to keep us from realizing the power available to us, they lie about it being an NRA plot. (After all, all gun owners are dumb uneducated rednecks who believe in plots, right?++).

Another part of this whole post is a story told by Bill Mauldin, the W.W.II cartoonist. Before the war, he was asked to do a election handout for a political candidate. (I am repeating this from memory, so the quotes are an approximation of the way Bill wrote it in “The Brass Ring.) The man’s aide came to talk to Bill, and Bill asked what the candidate was for? “He’s for getting reelected,” the aide replied. “Well, what is he against?” “He’s against getting defeated!”

Starting to get the picture?

In February 2007, we saw what happened when we hung together. The 94 ban happened because we didn’t hang together. As Ben Franklin said to his colleagues, “If we don’t hang together, we shall surely hang separately.”

So how do we put all of this together? And how do we use it to bury the new AWB, and the politicians who support it?

Point 1: Know HOW it happened, in the ORDER it happened, so that we can REPEAT.

Answer 1.1: It happened because people saw the blog, became outraged, and posted it on the GUN BOARDS. In the interaction on the gun boards, writing the SPONSORS was suggested, AND FOLLOWED THROUGH.

So, aside from the individuals who found and posted the information, the first reactors were the gun boards. Without the Paul Revere of the gun boards spreading the word, the whole process is gone, because the rest of us NEVER get to Lexington and Concord.

So the first step in burying the AWB has to do with the gun boards. We need to keep them strong and active. They need money to operate, and they will now more than ever need software and hardware. And part of that software will be to prevent “Denial of Service” and other attacks, and don’t think it doesn’t and won’t happen. So send a dollar a month to help run the site. If there are paid tiers of membership, join or up your tier if possible. But most of us can spend one dollar a month. Let’s face it, most of us could afford a dollar a day if we gave up one or two bottles of pop.

As part of supporting the gun boards, if you have a business, think of advertising on the board if you have a business. Also, spread word of the site. How about a locked sticky containing ONLY 3-4 posts: The Declaration of Independence, The Constitution, The Bill of Rights, and maybe, all further amendments. No comments. No discussions. Just read and think for yourself. Then any time someone talks of the Constitution or the other documents, you can tell them that an electronic version is available at www.whatevergunboard.com. Obviously, the owners and mods of the gun boards will want to decide that for themselves.

Anyone reading this can add their own ideas, and any boards are free to accept or reject the ideas or this entire post.

Answer 1.2 to Point One: Know your targets and hit them with precision. The posters on the boards quickly listed the targets and they were hit with precision. In this case, the writer himself, but also all of his sponsors.

Keep in mind at this point, that when you have a man strapped to the muzzle of a cannon, and you are holding the rope to the triggering device, you don’t need to yell to get his attention. Translation: threats, foul language, personal attacks; all of that is going to take away from your message. So if you write, call or e-mail, be civil. Many people will use one nastygrams to lump with 10-20 polite ones. (It’s called Human Nature.++).

And quickly make the point known, such as “Vote NO on HR 1022” on the subject line. If you just say “HR 1022”, an anti gun aide will probably mark you in the “Vote FOR” column and delete the message without reading. If you think that you have made some good points, post a copy for others to read, as they might not have thought of that point. But just that subject line will get the point across.

I’m not going to further expand on the targets and precision. You can do that for yourselves. And probably better than I can.

Answer 1.3: Thousands followed through , and in several ways. Posting on other boards or blogs, writing the sponsors and the writer. Posting information for others. The rage fueled the response, and it worked. We can’t always have the rage. We need to have the dedication to follow through when we don’t have that level of rage.

For instance, HR 1022. How many did something about Zumbo, but NOTHING about HR 1022. In this case, we need to STAY ON OUR REAR long enough to do something

POINT 2: Find your ALLIES and WORK with them.

Answer 2: The first allies were of course, the members of the boards and the boards. The next set of allies were the sponsors, who publicly disowned the writer. The next set were organizations. In this case, the NRA was slow because it caught them on a weekend. But organizations run by committee are always slower than companies that have presidents to act for them. (Just ask the president of Remington! ++)

Individually and as companies we have the power. Let’s look at the groups that have power as groups, and can help channel their power, and the power of the individuals and the companies.

I know that some people don’t like some groups, but please read and decide afterwards.

By groups of course, I am talking about the NRA, GOA, JPFO, and many others on the national, state and local levels. They have people with experience in interfacing at all levels. But they also have limited time and resources, and cannot take on all issues. Also as Ben Franklin said, “Politics is the art of the possible.” They know, for example. that what is not possible with 2 million members, is a piece of cake with 20 million. And what is not possible with 2 million members, is MORE than possible with 2 million ACTIVE members.

In a military campaign, the first step is to build up the force structure, pick the leaders and planners, plan the campaign, then and only then start the execution of the campaign.

So the build up is to get these groups built up, so that unlike EF Hutton, when they speak, politicians don’t listen, they stand at attention and listen.++

So if you don’t belong to a group, JOIN one. Better yet, join two. Find a way to sponsor someone else, maybe start and maintain a thread giving away and asking others to also give some to those who can’t afford it. (Here we go with the gun boards again.) Membership means votes, and votes have clout in congress AND at the state and local levels. And joining in this case means a resolution to DO SOMETHING when needed, generally writing your representatives.

And if the group agrees, SEND THEM COPIES of you e-mails or mail. (Again, keep it polite. Remember, they’re at the muzzle, they’re at the breech.)

Can you imagine the impact of Charlton Heston and a member of the Pink Pistols walking into a congressional office and laying down DVD disks of e-mails and faxes?

“These are copies already sent to your office by your constituents, and these are by interested citizens. Oh! And these are from A, B, C organizations. They are too busy delivering too other offices. And we all had so many we had to split the work.” If you think that won’t have an impact, you need to see a doctor. (You guess what kind. ++)

(I’m sorry, but you just got to love a group that has the sense of humor to give themselves that name. ++ That’s a reason I mention them a few times. ++)

Which brings us to the next point. Picking a leader and planners. No, I don’t think that any group should submerge itself in any other group. But how about a division of labor? You take this area, you this area. “When our reps walk into congress, we take the power of ALL of us, so instead of walking in talking 3 millions members, we walk in talking EIGHT to TWENTY MILLION joined members.” And if a group doesn’t want to work together, maybe it’s time to move your membership. AFTER you try as a member to get the point across. Just remember that groups led by committees move slowly. (And if we have to, we can Zumbo them!!! ++ ++ ++ ++)

How much power does that raise? Not only with congress, but TV and Radio stations and networks, and their SPONSORS. But remember that these groups will still have to pick and choose their fights. Like I said, the power is large, but still limited.

Also you can move a lot locally to support from below while pressure is being applied from above. The how's and whys I leave to you. Just don’t forget the gun stores as you are thinking locally. They are good for spreading.

And they will still need extra money for the fights they undertake. I will give an example. Right now the VCDL of Virginia (sorry, don’t know the meaning of the initials) is involved in the Roanoke Times fiasco. If we have 10 million who read and are told about it, and each sends a quarter, VCDL suddenly has a $2.5 million dollar war chest to those damaged by the RT’s malicious printing of names and addresses.

Obviously, handling 10 million envelopes could be a problem. Maybe find some site that is trying to do the same as PayPal, and use it instead. Helps VCDL AND punishes an antigun business. There are ideas out there to do this. Some of you, perhaps many, know of them
And obviously, the Brady front organizations cannot be included. But check point 5 below.

POINT 3: Know your ENEMY, their WEAK POINTS, TACTICS and STRATEGY

Answer 3: We know the enemy. In polite society, they are called the Brady Bunch.

Let’s be honest. Their strategy is to divide and conquer. Their tactics are to use lies, to blow up any differences between semi auto and bolt, hunter and shooter. I don’t need to list them all. They lie about crime, death, children, the NRA. I’ll stop here, there are more that could be listed.

Their weak points are the divide and conquer and the lies. If we see them trying, we can stop them. And we can counter the lies, (30,000 dead children a year, with the truth that they are counting “children” of twenty.)

Just be ready to fight it locally as the groups fight it on the state and national level. Give the local and state groups the same kind of e-mail support as the national groups. There are groups out there doing this, find them, advertise them, support them, and use them

Default Re: Defeat AWB Through UNITY!!

POINT 4: When your enemy gives you a WEAPON, USE IT, hard and fast and as long as possible.

Answer 4: The anti’s have given us many weapons, and we need to use them. One is the new AWB, which would outlaw ANY semiautomatic rifle or shotgun. The hunters can now see the calls for the elimination of the “sniper rifles” and “assault shotgun” (the beloved pump). Also of the “assassination” round “.22”. If a shop allows, find these, print them up, and post in the shops.

Also laws in the states and cities to ban all guns.

Hang in there for this next part, as some of you will not like this. But at least listen to my reasons.

The biggest weapon that they have given us it the weapon that they thought they (and many of us) thought we gave them.

Attached below is “Open letter to the Senate” by Jim Zumbo. He is truly trying to become the worst nightmare of the anti second amendment crowd. (And being originally from Michigan, anyone who savages Carl Levin is okay in my book. ++)

So let’s try the Ronald Reagan “Trust but verify.”

So how do we use this hunter, who was so far on the other side of the hunter-shooter split? (Hang on for the ride, boys, it’s gonna be fun!)

Let’s try to give him back what we took away! Get a list of the old sponsors. Send them e-mails and ask if they will sponsor Jim again. Ask some other groups to especially support his Second Amendment statements, maybe even reprint them. See if we can get his TV show back. Let him talk hunter to hunter in Outdoor Life. Let him try different .223 rounds for hunting, and show that it is a good round and rifle for hunting. And also for self defense.

Remember that the Bradys used the hunter-shooter split to get the 94 AWB. We now have a great spokesman for the hunter group. Yes, he will have to answer questions from that group about his change. But, as I noted before, the antis have given him some GREAT material to use. What hunter in the world is going to react favorably to the banning of the .22 round? Most of them still have their original .22, or have given it to a son or grandson.

With Jim, we now have a great opportunity to not only heal that breech, but seal it so tight that it will last for generations. It might even turn some of those Brady front shooting organizations into second amendments organizations. Hey, funnier things have happened in this country.

The Bradys will say he caved. But he has already stated in the above mentioned letter that he has learned from his mistake. Besides, when have we ever cared what the Bradys think? Jim will have to answer, and I think he will do very well.

So can we forgive, move on, and show the world that we can forgive, and replace what he lost? Trust, but verify. I have no problem with that. If you don’t want to do this. Why? Do you think it helps the Brady Bunch to give him an even larger pulpit, and one that is focused straight at them and their cohorts in congress?

Someone post the list of former sponsors, and let’s send a message: “Jim, we’ll trust you, but we’re gonna watch, as I’m sure you’ll understand. We need those who are still thinking like you did, because we need them as they need us. For that you are the best spokesman. So let’s get out there and target the antis. (With maybe a few deer and elk for sustenance along the way! ++)

POINT 5: UNIFY! UNIFY! UNIFY!

Answer 5: Winston Churchill was once asked why he gave a speech supporting Stalin when Hitler attacked the Soviet Union. His answer was: “If Hitler were to invade Hell, I would endeavor to say something nice about Satan in the [House of] Commons.”

I don’t care if you are a Pink Pistol who thinks the gay rights people have sold out to Michael Savage, or a radical conservative who thinks Michael Savage is a sellout to Al Gore ++(Sorry, some things just should NOT be resisted.++) If you are for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, then they should never be able to take your arms from you until they take mine from my cold dead hands. And vice versa. Nothing else should ever be acceptable, EVER. Under NO circumstances. For NO reason.

In this, we are like the Founding Fathers, sworn to die together rather than submit. (On the other hand, we got all the guns. ++)

POINT 6: A final view

I hope I have convinced you that we have a lot of power to push our case. Limited, but still a lot.

I hope that I have shown you some ways to cooperation between individuals and groups, that will enable us to better use that power.

I hope most of all, that I have sparked interest, that I have sparked imagination, and that I have in some way to energized those reading this to step forth to the battle that is uniquely that of the generations now alive.

I hope that all here realize that this is not about me and my ideas, but about us, and OUR ideas, and OUR actions. I have put in ideas, but left out others. Others may put in ideas, discuss them, meld them, use them, and act on them.

SUMMARY:

Ben Franklin said it: “We need to hang together, or we shall surely hand separately.”

Abraham Lincoln: “A house divided cannot stand.”

Napoleon: “Attack! Attack! Always attack!”

We have the power. We have a very recent example of using it. If we unify towards a common goal; support and defend each other. If we build, educate, use our power wisely. We will win.

These ideas are not all. I am not the smartest on these boards. Others can add, subtract, substitute, whatever we need to do, and whoever organizes various parts of it. I submit these ideas that can help us defeat the AWB if the ideas or something like them are implemented.

I will end this already long post with three quotes. The first is Franklin Roosevelt, the second I do no know, and the third is Winston Churchill.

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself!”

“We can only fail to win, if we fail to try!”

“Never give up! Never give up! Never give up!”

In February, hunter and outdoorsman Jim Zumbo enraged shooters across the United States with comments appearing his now-discontinued blog on Outdoor Life. Since that fateful blog, Zumbo's professional life has changed - profoundly. A marquee career in hunting has effectively been reduced to nothingness. Television sponsors bolted, contracts were cancelled and a former front-man for hunting found himself the object of hatred and ridicule by shooters who felt betrayed by his comments.

Zumbo hasn't tried to shift the blame to anyone else. In fact, he pledged to go on the offensive to fight HR 1022, the newly introduced and significantly broadened, assault weapons ban.

Last week, Michigan Senator Carl Levin, a staunch opponent of firearms, used Zumbo's remarks to attack firearms owners, reading portions into the Congressional Record. Zumbo has fired back, sending an open letter to the United States Senate that responds to Levin's action and makes it plain that Zumbo isn't letting that action pass.

Last night, Zumbo provided us a copy of his response to Senator Levin. Today, in the sense of fairness, we offer it in its entirety - without comment.
==================================================
===============
An Open Letter to the United States Senate

Dear Honorable Ladies and Gentlemen:

It recently came to my attention that one of your colleagues, Michigan Sen. Carl Levin, has chosen to attack firearms owners using remarks I wrote in mid-February as his launch pad. As you probably know, Sen. Levin has been making anti-gun speeches every week for the past eight years because of a promise he made to the Economic Club of Detroit in May 1999.

Mr. Levin has an agenda, and he should have spoken to me before using my name in one of his speeches, especially since his remarks were entered into the Congressional Record. I would like my remarks here entered into the Congressional Record as well.

Sen. Levin is only one of 16 members of the Senate to vote against the Vitter Amendment to the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act. This amendment prohibits the confiscation of a privately-owned firearm during an emergency or major disaster when possession of that gun is not prohibited under state or federal law.

Eighty-four senators voted for that amendment, inspired by the egregious confiscation of firearms from the citizens of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina in the summer of 2005. Those seizures, you will recall, led the Second Amendment Foundation and National Rifle Association to join in a landmark civil rights lawsuit in federal court that brought the confiscations to an abrupt end.

The taking of private property without warrant or probable cause - even firearms - was considered an outrage by millions of American citizens, and yet Sen. Levin joined 15 of his colleagues in voting against this measure. It is no small wonder that Sen. Levin gets an "F" rating from gun rights organizations. He would have American citizens disarmed and left defenseless at a time when they need their firearms the most, when social order collapses into anarchy and protecting one's self and one's family is not simply a right and responsibility, it becomes a necessity.

That in mind, Sen. Levin must know that almost immediately after I wrote those remarks, I recanted and apologized to the millions of Americans who lawfully and responsibly own, compete with and hunt with semi-automatic rifles. I took a "crash course" on these firearms and visited with my good friend Ted Nugent on his ranch in Texas, where I personally shot an AR-15 and educated myself with these firearms.

Some of us learn from our mistakes, others keep making them. Legislation to which Sen. Levin alluded, HR 1022, would renew the ban on so-called "assault weapons," and dangerously expand it to encompass far more perfectly legal firearms. For the Congress of the United States to even consider such legislation is an affront to every law-abiding firearms owner in this country.

This legislation that Sen. Levin appears to endorse is written so broadly as outlaw not only firearms, but accessories, including a folding stock for a Ruger rifle. As I understand the language of this bill, it could ultimately take away my timeworn and cherished hunting rifles and shotguns - firearms I hope to one day pass on to my grandchildren - as well as millions of identical and similar firearms owned by other American citizens.

It is clear to me that the supporters of this legislation don't want to stop criminals. They want to invent new ones out of people like me, and many of you, and your constituents, friends, neighbors and members of your families. They will do anything they can, go to any extremes they believe necessary, to make it impossible for more and more American citizens to legally own any firearm.

In his final paragraph, Senator Levin misrepresents what I said. I never spoke in favor of a general assault weapons ban. Again, I immediately apologized for my blog statement that was exclusively directed toward hunting and not gun ownership.

I will not allow my name to be associated with this kind of attack on the Second Amendment rights of my fellow citizens.

A few weeks ago, in a letter to Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, I promised to educate my fellow hunters about this insidious legislation "even if I have to visit every hunting camp and climb into every duck blind and deer stand in this country to get it done."

I will amend that to add that I will bring my effort to Capitol Hill if necessary, even if I have to knock on every door and camp in every office of the United States Senate. In promoting this ban, the Hon. Carl Levin does not speak for me, or anybody I know.

Sincerely,
James Zumbo
Cody, Wyoming

Your approach is correct and the U. S. Congress certainly should feel our "heat" with respect to HR 1022.

Just remember the same priciples apply at the state level and right now the Pennsylvania legislature has proposed laws before it that make the Federal stuff look mild. So bear in mind we face a multi-front war.

Well, it wasn't my approach, so I can't take credit for that. As for PA, we can still use gunboards to get the message out and get the NRA involved.

Exclamation Re: Defeat AWB Through UNITY!!

You cannot be more correct about Uniting various allied organization, and supporting them. These fools want nothing less than total disarmament of the US population. The don't want you to own to hunt. They don't want you to own for self defense.

Being somewhat older guy, I said after 94 AWB was passed to a guy hunting guns will be next. If you've ever seen the videos entered into evidence for the congressional ammunition restriction study, you can see their aim was just that. Gun guys, including guys that only own hunting type guns have to get pissed off and stay pissed off. The have to get out and be VOCAL proponents of the Second Amendment. Most importantly vote Pro-Second in every election.

It's real easy to sit at home and not go vote. That's how those fuckers got that far up to '94. Then they tried to ban our stuff and got sent home with their asses on a silver platter.

We have to put a hypothetical "target" on the heads of their whole anti-gun anti-American socialist crew. Dianne Feinstein, Kalifornia, Charles Shummer, NY, Ted "Chappaquiddick" Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, etc. etc.

I can't believe gun owner's in their districts stand for this.

I am a member of NRA, even though at times they've dropped the ball. I am a member of GOA, visit them at http://www.gunowners.org; they been cited as "The only no-compromise gun lobby in Washington." by
-Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX).

I've taking a liking to this forum as well. Great guys, without all the squabbling I've seen in forums of other topics. Support this forum, I note recently it's incorporated as a non-profit, so it's tax deductible.

Also, anyone who hasn't heard about them there's the JPFO, Jew's for the Preservation of Firearm Ownership. At http://www.jpfo.org, they have a lot of info about abuses of various individuals by the b at f e. I'm here to tell anybody, I ain't no Jew, but if they have an effective organization for preserving our 2nd Amendment heritage and Firearms ownership- I'm supporting them.

Vote, Vote, Vote- in your area according to the NRA or GOA ratings for the proposed candidates, in EVERY election. Not just the main races. That how they get their jerk-off buddies in the side door.

We can not accept another AWB. The next one will not have the grandfather clauses of the 94 AWB. It will not have a sunset provision allowing it to expire.

They've always called the incremental loss of our second amendment right "The slippery slope." I'm telling anyone who'll listen that were running out of ground on that slope. It's time to mobilize and act.

This can't be said enough.....

Join the NRA or GOA or both or boards like this one.
Support your local affiliations (which I'm guilty of not doing)
Write, email, fax, call (what ever it takes) your State and Federal legislators.
Don't argue over a hunting firearm vs a target firearm, they are all firearms and the antis want all of them gone...
Also if you are not registered to vote, then please register and help throw the antis out of office...

This is the only way wew are going to win

Remember the antis only need to win once, we have to win everytime...

It's real easy to sit at home and not go vote. That's how those @#%^@ got that far up to '94. Then they tried to ban our stuff and got sent home with their asses on a silver platter.
