Lot`s of forums require a 50 or 100 post minimum before you can get into the classified ads.

Default Re: "Newbies" asking for illegal gun sales through PM's

A few years ago a fellow offered a GI M14 "bring-back" to me via e-mail (picked it up via Fulton Armory). The message was rife with spelling and grammatical errors. It appeared that the sender was (over-) playing dumb, ignorant of the NFA.

He included a phone number. A brief investigation revealed it to be a US Gov't phone exchange! My e-mail reply included an explanation that the correspondent was involved in Federally felonious activity, and that he should immediately surrender the rifle to his local BATFE office.

I then called the BATFE in Washington to report the exchange. I trust that the BATF troll who attempted to entrap me was red-faced, if only briefly.

Regards,

Walt

Default Followup: "Bell Air MD"; was Re: "Newbies" asking for illegal gun sales through PM's

Please be advised that the MD State Police, who are responsible for handgun sales clearance and registration in the State of MD, have a special unit that seeks to find, or when needed, entrap, firearms law violators.

Thank you ALL for you postings. I thought I was the only one getting these. It's annoying having to explain the rules over and over again. While I don't feel sorry for those people who are greedy, I despise entrapment practices by the government (or anyone else for that matter). There is something just so wrong about it.

I'll forward the PM's to dan/doug.

Yeah that was me, a guy wanted to buy my Para 1911 he lived in Del and wanted to do a face to face with no FFL. After I confronted him about, and told him what the law was and I had absolutely no intention of breaking it he disappeared.

I have completed 2 deals recently w/members t5hat have low post counts. I figure that it really don't matter so ongf as both parties abide by the laws, there should be no problems.

I bought a rifle on here several months ago and I have under 100 posts. The seller followed all procedures for a FTF long gun purchase but didn't ask for a LTCF which I provided anyway.

The only thing that made me wonder since that was my first FTF long gun purchase is...what is to prevent someone selling a stolen long gun?

Here is something I came across just now in the classifieds:

http://www.pafoa.org/forum/firearms-...c-not-g-i.html

The OP said he doesn't want to pay transfer fees...is he looking for a FTF handgun purchase with no FFL involved?

Pro tip:

Any PM that says something like "i giv u kash 4 gunz" is likely from someone you don't want to have dealings with.

I like the idea of counter-stings on LEO's trying to trap people... I mean, what, was it a slow week for murders, rapes and robberies?
