I checked out a vid, here:
http://www.poetv.com/video.php?vid=23476

ATF would take the position that you've altered the trigger, because, well, you've altered the trigger. Although I disagree with the Akins Accelerator ruling, this is essentially indistinguishable from Akins. Both of them keep the FCG intact, and just alter how recoil affects the trigger function. The Akins unit let the entire receiver recoil within a frame and made the trigger slap your finger, the rubber band trick here lets the trigger reset and slap against your finger. Without the conscious individual trigger pulls, the rubber band is only as legal as the Akins Accelerator.

Whether it's a string, rubber band, or crank device on a motor, if you add parts you run the risk of ATF crushing all the fun out of your world.

You'll need a ouija board to know the mind of ATF, but if you don't add any parts or devices to speed up the rate of fire, then I don't see how ATF could possibly make the case that you had a machinegun, or a conversion device, or a collection of parts that made a conversion kit.

In that case, you're bump-firing with a novel and disquieting technique.

People talk that way all the time, why not also shoot that way?

/Actually, I was just going by the letter nomenclature originally, and didn't think of the physical ramifications.

Where are some of you planning on trying bump-firing? Most ranges I know of prohibit such reckless behavior. If I ever saw someone bump-firing at our club (PMSC), I'd tell them to pack up and go home and report them to the club's officers. There is no excuse for unsafe gun handling.
