Default Eastern PA Shoot is ON!

Read through the entire post, but...

The rules have changed!

And, you can all thank Mrs. Plinker for that. I was looking at the poll and how it is running, and I said to her, "You know, there is no reason why we can't have two shoots, is there? That way those who can't make the one can still participate in the other, and some people may want to do both."

And she said that was fine with her! See, I have to clear this stuff through her so as not to detract from the time where she may have things for me to do. So keep on voting, but consider both days a go! Just let me know which day you want to come when you send me a PM. And of course, it is $10.00 for either day, so if you want to come both times, it is going to cost you $20.00.

If anyone has questions, post them here, or send me a PM.

Original post follows...

Mods, if this is in the wrong place, please forgive me and move it to the Shoot and Range Trip forum. I did not post there because a date has not yet been decided. That is for the group.

To everyone else. I have just returned from the gun club meeting with their blessing for this event. We have a choice of two dates, Aug 9 or Sept 6, for which I will be posting a poll. Details are as follows.

This shooting event will be held at the Topton Fish and Game Association in Topton PA. If you are not familiar with the area, Google it. The exact address is 26 Tina Ln, Mertztown PA (And yes, it is in Topton). If you are interested, the web address is:

http://www.toptonfga.org/

Everyone who signs up to come will officially be my guest, unless you are already a member. The cost for a guest pass is $10.00. If you decide you would like to become a member of the Association within 30 days of the shoot, that $10.00 will be credited to your membership fee. The fee for the first year is $50.00. Subsequent years are $25.00.

To obtain a pass, PM me with your real name and address. I will respond with my address so that you can mail me a check or a money order. This is a requirement of the club (and me too). PLEASE do not send me a rubber check. Neither of us needs the hassle of the fees over a bounced $10.00 check, and if your account is in that bad a shape, you need to stay home and attend to your finances. Checks will need to get to me in time for me to cash them and obtain your pass. In other words, you cannot wait until the last minute. Figure on a week before the date everyone decides upon.

There are four or five pistol ranges and three rifle ranges we can use. We can shoot just about anything except full auto. The shoot will run from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. We need to vacate the range by then just in case people need access to set up for the next days scheduled event.

The club has a small clubhouse and serves breakfast starting at 7:00 AM if anyone is interested in eating there. It is not five star dining, but the food is pretty good.

There are steel gongs on some of the rifle ranges, but for this shoot on the pistol ranges we will be restricted to paper targets on the backer boards. If this goes well I will see about a future event where we can set up reactive targets.

There is the possibility of an after shoot event at the Plinker household, but I still need to clear that with Mrs. Plinker.

Edit to add: I forgot to mention, that with an event this size, I obtained a special dispensation from the club officers that if we are rained out, we can reschedule without having to buy new passes.

Group shoots are a wonderful thing, they have been great for our club and our local community.
Gun sales in the area go up 76% in the days after the shoot

I should be able to make it, and the MRS. will have to check. September 6 is no good for me because of the holiday.

The holiday is the week before though. Does that mess with your schedule?

Personally, I think the earlier, the better...so we can schedule more before the weather gets too cold and we're forced inside at which point I don't know of many places who will accommodate such a large group of shooters.

Tootie and I are in for either date at this point unless something stupid happens. I will say planning out to Sept is tough for us though. I voted Aug
