Lehigh County Sheriff's Office, located in Allentown

$38 for new (don't know renew cost), pay up front, fill out form, take photo and wait 2-3 weeks to 45 days, as told to me by the person who took my application. I'll report back on how long it actually took to receive.

I had to hand carry the forms and pay in person. Then they send the License in the mail. I just received mine, it took 15 days and it's in my hand. The new license is laminated and looks like a drivers license.

Montgomery county went up, I believe its $45 / $24 laminated with digital picture / non-laminated you supply your own picture.

I'm positive it went up because I had to pay the increase, I'm pretty sure it was+ $5.

In reality the permit was $48 dollars, the extra $8 was for a state police background check in addition the the Sheriff's. It took the full 45 (business) days before I was granted the permit. They checked with both of my references AND my employer as to my demeanor. Asked all three questions about my drinking habits. No problem for me, I don't drink at all, for the past 20+ years. Had to apply for and pick up the permit at the Sheriff's Office in the county courthouse, the application said no photo required, however, they took my photo when I submitted the app and that photo appears on the laminated carry card I was issued.

I heard that I did. I also want to know why it took 45 business days to make three phone calls and run a background check. The background check when I bought my Kahr took 10 minutes.

I think I posted this before but I don't know where so here it is again.

According to Erica Newman, who is the Sheriff's Clerk and in charge of all things that have to do with Permits:

ADAMS COUNTY
Our cost for license renewal and new permits are the same $31.00. And
about the referencing website we just use the Pennsylvania State Police
website.
