Because DCNR has instituted a 'regulation' stating as much, and the state has not taken that authority away from them (yet).

Folks with a PA LTCF would be exempt from the federal law within 1000ft of a school in PA. Those carrying under reciprocal agreement with a license from another state would NOT be exempt under the federal law. PA's own law has a provision for other lawful purposes - but even PA LTCF persons risk arrest yet. Last edited by knight0334; June 4th, 2008 at 06:46 AM. |

Do you happen to know the reasoning behind this regulation?

As a tactic to appease those who think that "feel good" laws & regs really make people safer. |

If you have a valid Texas concealed handgun license then you should be legal. PA has a reciprocity agreement with TX. http://www.pafoa.org/law/carrying-fi...ry/reciprocity If you do not have a permit then no, you may not carry concealed or openly in Philadelphia.

It was pointed out to me by another member that my own county, Indiana, has an ordinance prohibiting the carrying of firearms in county parks (http://www.indianacountyparks.org/faqs/regs.html). It's sort of undated, so there's no telling when it came out in relation to the Uniform Firearms Act.
Needless to say, a letter went out tonight to the county commissioners and the parks director pointing out the error of their ways.
