Maybe its just me...
Maybe I'm just way too nice of a guy and deserve the trampling but... You have a bad reg and no ins and now you want to complain that the officer did something wrong??? I want to make it clear that I am oppose to the State registration fee and practice. The current scam of insurance we are subjected to is so off the wall and mafia styled ridiculous, I am opposed at every level. But I'm going to play devils advocate for a minute... You live in a town/city type element and you happened to be walking home in the evening hours. A little ways ahead of you there is man dressed in a baggy sports jersey and baggy ripped up jeans. He is sitting on a porch listening to shaggy quietly from a widow behind him. In his mouth is what looks like a rolled cigerette. You see him flicking a lighter that is not lighting. As you draw closer he stands up and asks you for a light. I could type out everyones responce based on simple little assumptions that are going to be made about the paragraph. So here is "Johnny great cop" on his way to "who cares" and he sees your vehicle that does not comply with the state vehicle code. So he pulls you over only to find out you don't have any insurance. And now you are telling him you have multiple weapons. So its wrong for him to think about his well being and if his little bouncing red head sitting at home is going to get to see her dear ol' dad one last time? I can understand when you are doing nothing wrong and a cop hassles you. I can understand why we (including me) are completely oppose to any registration database for our firearms. But what I have a hard time comprehending is why we do not take into consideration just how scared the officer(s) may be when dealing with us.

just so all of you are aware: i DO have insurance... the current insurance started this month and i had forgotten to put it in my car, the car inspection is valid, and the registration is off by 20 days... i know its still my responsibility... i wasnt complaining about his actions perse. just his running of the firearms in whatever database. some of you guys can really be a jerk sometimes yanno? also: police dont generally impound cars of white people in the rich suburbs dressed in shirt and tie... sorry just how it is
![]() eta: also since when do people in a murderous silent rage tell people that not only they have a sidearm but they are OC'ing it and doing the officer a courtesy?

First off C. I'm glad it went smoothly for you and that you only got a warning and nothing more.
Second, what if this happened to a woman? Would her safety be of more concern then 2 male officers? How would she be able to be sure that they where real LEO's? I would be more then willing to drop the mag and un-chamber, but shouldn't my safety as a woman take precedence over 2 guys? Or, should I request a female officer to respond before disarming? I'm sorry but I don't trust someone just because they drive a cruiser and dress like a cop, there are to many phonies out there for my liking.

Can a women demand a female officer before getting out of the car? (Is it her right?)
|
|

You can ask me, but if I am not searching the female, most likely you won't get one.

It depends. If standing department policy requires the search of a vehicle for inventory purposes then yes, they could have done so. If there is not such standing policy then it would have been an illegal search and seizure.

Thats why we (and most other departments I know officers with) have a policy written for it and a form that gets filled out.

This whole situation amazes me....be proud that you got off with a warning. It seems that any altercation leads to the good 'ol "database run" Happened @ OCB... and with several others who were pulled over. Is a LTCF not enough credible information that the gun on your person is infact yours and that you are a law-abiding citizen? I'm tired of seeing members on here treated like criminals.
I find it peculiar that when you enter a court house and ask for your firearm to be checked, they(Sherrifs Dept.) treat you with respect and allow you to store it in a secured locker. They don't waste your time by taking it downstairs and "running it." Are we to assume that if we get pulled over.... our rights' WILL BE violated?? Should we just throw it onto the street and say..." I'm disarmed.....check to see if it's clean" Has anyone contacted PSP and asked if their whole "check the firearms in the illegal database" is following their sop protocol? We've had this similar debate before and I remember some people on here saying that they won't even let the officer(s) know they're armed. This is good and bad...it will definitely be a faster traffic stop...and you'll be on your way in a matter of minutes. If you surrender your weapon....The "database check" will take time and I'm sure they'll dismantle your firearm completely (to assure their safety) since it's broken down...why don't they throw a few cleaning patches w/Hoppe's through the barrell? After all, their fingers may be sticky from a prior donut stop etc. but hey...it's only an idea ![]() In the meantime, I'm going to try and be the first to obtain a personal protection permit...obviously, someone in the psp needs to be educated.
