I don't mean if he actually obtains one, just that he would be legally qualified to. That makes the difference in the severity of the charge. If you're already a 'prohibited person', the stakes are higher than if you're a 'regular' person who just doesn't have a LTCF.

I do computer/networking work for some counties here in central PA, and I have forgotten that my speed loader was in my pocket when going through the security. In this case I had the guard hold it for me until I was done.
Because of the way I carry my snub revolver (in my front pants pocket) many times I forget that it is there. I have yet to do this when going through security at a courthouse, but it probably WILL happen. The "I forgot it was there" excuse is completely plausible to me. BTW I have a LTCF

I took his post to mean that it is possible to forget that one is in possession of a firearm when one carries one all the time. He then mentions that he has a LTCF, which means he "probably" will not end up in court. It is easier to convince security staff of it being an oversight if you LAWFULLY possess the firarm in the first place. Be safe. Scott |

Thanks Scott for clarifying what I was getting at.
I didn't get caught taking a speed loader in, I discovered it when emptying my pockets, and rather than go all the way back out to my car, I just asked that it be held for me while I was in the building. The same would go if I still had my revolver. When emptying pockets, I'd determine that I had my firearm on me and would have to go back to my vehicle or have security hold it for me. I do not carry in a briefcase so the situation where a briefcase with a firearm passes through xray would not happen in my case. The point in the end is that when you carry all the time, it becomes second nature, and it is plausible that someday I'll forget to empty my pocket before getting to the security checkpoint.
