well I think the film will be on hold for awhile, but it might not be bad to get them atleast aware of the situation, hopefully get talks going with someone so that when the tape is released it can be released on a news station instead of only an online thing.

It's only when there's that reasonable suspicion of criminal activity that the officer has the right to put his or her hooves on you.

This incident was all wrong from the beginning. The officers had no right to pull people out of the restaurant, they had no right to do a Terry frisk, they had no right to go beyond the Terry frisk and seize weapons and papers and wallets and whatever else. They had no right to accost peaceable diners and "make sure that they were legal" in the absence of any reasonable suspicion that criminal activity was afoot, they have no right to search citizens and take their guns and run the serial numbers in the absence of any possible suspicion that they were stolen or unlawfully transferred (and how exactly would they get such a reasonable suspicion from a plain view of a holstered weapon?), and they sure as hell don't have the right to seize and keep firearms simply because they are not "registered" to the owner in the "thing that the PSP swears is not a registry".

I totally agree with all of you. I'm not defending the actions of those police officers. (As long as we all know that).

That is a VERY VERY VERY VERY broad term that is used excessively with the police. They can ARTICULATE the sky is purple because there is red and blue in it.

My point is that they violated the essence of the law about Terry searches. They did this knowingly. However, knowing what they know, they still did it.

This is a direct violation of the 4th amendment. This is direct violation of case law. THEY STILL DID IT!

Who is to stand up to this?

WE as a WHOLE are to stand up and demand that this stops.

If we don't, they will continue. What happened to ALL of you at the dinner is a crime in it of itself. There was no reason for any of it to happen. However, it still happened. The police violated the letter of the law, knowingly. But that same letter of the law didn't stop them from doing it.

That is my whole point.

No, that is no the webstersversion. It is mine. It sticks. Because that is exactly what anyone can do. I can articulate why I thought my life was in danger when the water jugs attacked. As long as I can articulate my actions, I should be good.
