The problem with blaming the officers training is that several of the officers were known to have said that they knew that OC was legal and still did not stop what was going on to these people. The fact that some of the officers (if not all) knew that what they were doing was wrong and still did it - that makes them bad officers, not the fact of poor training. It has been said before, but I'll say it again. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse, and if that applies to citizens then it definitely applies to the police as well.

On a side note....finally read the whole thread! wow, its a big one! Good luck in the lawsuit guys! My prayers are with all of those involved, and definitely with your son Pa. Patriot - I hope he is able to get past this terrible experience.

Do you feel being unlawfully arrested counts as a violation of your civil rights, or is that just hurt feelings?

Do you feel that being illegally threatened with arrest unless you comply with an unlawful order is a violation of your civil rights or just hurt feelings?

Do you believe being forced to stand outside in the rain, against your will, while being forced to submit to illegal searches under threat of arrest, unable to go back to your family, who is watching all this occur, is a violation of your civil rights, or just hurt feelings?

Do you believe having your property stolen, and given to someone else, while you are forced to watch, and are helpless to do anything about it, is a violation of your civil rights, or just hurt feelings?

Do you say that having your property stolen and kept for weeks, before it is given back without so much as a "sorry sir", is just hurt feelings, or is it a violation of your civil rights?

Do you espouse that traumatizing children and spouses, by making them watch their parents and spouses be subjected to verbal and physical abuse, unlawful actions, and treated like criminals, is just simply hurt feelings, or is it a violation of your civil rights?

These things were perpetrated against law abiding citizens by public servants who admit they knew the law.

If you would not feel comfortable placing a full page ad in your local paper, inviting every LEO in your area to come to your house or follow you around, and search you and your property, whenever they felt like it, seizing whatever they felt like, then why is it a case of hurt feelings when it happens to some other law abiding citizens?

What happened at the OCB was not someone getting their feelings hurt, it was an outrageous abuse of authority by public servants, who knew their actions to be illegal while they were committing those acts........

if I had been there that night and I heard that the resturant was or could be closed it would brighten my day "as in what goes around comes around" and before someone say's I haven't read this entire thread don't waste your time, I have!

I guess they are going to have to "bite the bullet" along with everyone else.

Why would this have anything to do with this thread? OCB was the place it happened. The company is not the victim, not the aggressor, just the piece of geography.

The ocb was actually ok with the whole situation. Two of the managers were even carrying themselves.

Karma is a bitch?

Would be more in tune with Karma if the officers involved in the DC incident all suddenly got sick with the black plague or something ( rats hanging with rats- and maybe prairie dogs, or just being people that disease carrying fleas are attracted to)? Sounds like the cheif of the PD has something going on with his being away for a while- Karma being a bitch?

And what of the brainless but noisy guinea fowl who had to screech and call 911 at the OCB? Maybe a cunning predator will eat them?

I'd look at the OCB closing as a bad omen for the community. Loss of jobs, loss of tax dollars, etc...
