Default Re: USPSA/IPSC gun choice

I was shooting for competition. I used a Ruger GP100 double action and a 1911.
I load my own so I made sure that the power factor was correct. I just checked the 2004 rule book and I was shooting single stack 1911 in major not production. Sorry for my error.

That's IDPA, USPSA has minimum bullet diameter for divisions. For Production you can shoot anything greater that .355 bullet diameter. Anything that is that fits in the parameter of the division.

Go to www.USPSA.org and get the details on the different Divisions.

caliber does NOT determine which division you are in in IDPA, the only caliber restrictions are .45acp ONLY in CDP, but you can shoot .45acp in other divisions. Other than that all other divisions must be service caliber's such as 9mm, .38spl and above provided they meet their respective power floors...

I shoot a glock 34 for production. It seems just about perfect. There is a really good article in the USPSA mag "front sight" about the Smith and wesson M&P-9 this month. It seems like it would be worth considering.
