I am looking to get into production class uspsa/ipsc and am strongly leaning towards a CZ SP-01. There are two models I'm considering... one has a manual safety, the other has a decocking lever.
Considering that in production, the first shot must be double action, I would have to start hammer down. This doesn't rule out the manual safety version, but would mean having to manually decock the hammer. Manually decocking seems like a really bad idea in general. As far as I can tell, if you're manually decocking, you might as well throw away all your gun-safety rules. Do people actually do this? Is this even legal in shooting sports? |

I decock my CZ75 compact all the time, mind you the decocker brings it to 1/4 cock, and that in its self is ok too, hard to follow all the rules to decock the cz as you have to pull the trigger, you might liik into a lanyard to do it.
put the lanyard in the hamer hole, then pull the trigger while pointing in a safe direction and holding the lanyard back, slowly release the hammer down till it is fully decocked. might want to practice this at the range a few times before you do it in a room too, it can get tricky to get the motion right.
