Default ltcf needed for idpa?

Do you need to have a ltcf to participate in IDPA because you are required to conceal on the range?

I assume once I step of the firing line I can tuck the shirt behind the gun or leave it out of the holster to avoid any problems if allowed to conceal on the firing line.

Nope, not needed.

IDPA matches are also typically held on private property with permission from the owner...

You probably already know, but don't forget to fully unload it when transporting it to and from the range.

Thank you for heads up. I always unload and put mags and bullets and gun in separate containers/pockets

Are you not able to get a LTCF? Would save you a lot of worry and hassle if you did

Not a citizen yet (thought I read one requirement stated you had to be a citizen). I have my green card and can apply for citizenship but I have been thinking about joining either Navy or CG recently. If I do that my citizenship is paid for by govt so I would rather wait till I figure that out before applying privately. I just got into guns in Jan/Feb so this is all rather new to me. Since right now I am studying to be elementary teacher and volunteer and go to college I can't carry in a lot of places anyways. It costs money which I would rather spend on ammo and practice.

No real reason not to get it but more really I haven't gotten it because I am not sure where I will be at the end of the year and also I just got into shooting hobby so I am not rushing into stuff yet. Get comfortable with pistol and training and then carry is my order of how I will end up doing it.

That's true, but by my reading of the UFA you can't conceal a weapon on another person's home or place of business:

§6106. Firearms not to be carried without a license.
(a) Offense defined.
(1) Except as provided in paragraph (2), any person who carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license under this chapter commits a felony of the third degree.
(2) A person who is otherwise eligible to possess a valid license under this chapter but carries a firearm in any vehicle or any person who carries a firearm concealed on or about his person, except in his place of abode or fixed place of business, without a valid and lawfully issued license and has not committed any other criminal violation commits a misdemeanor of the first degree.

EDIT: Oops, I did not see the "at" in subsection b(4). So concealment during a target shooting match is OK. Good to know!
