Default CMP?

Anyone have a "quick n dirty" guide to what CMP is all about? My club has CMP shoots and Im thinking about maybe giving that a try every now and again.

They have AR's and M1's that I can borrow as my AR isnt done yet (and wont meet official CMP rules anyway..)

Thanks!

first off nobody is going to care about the official CMP rules at the club.

So long as it is a military style rifle with no optics.

there are different courses of fire, the way we shoot at PMSC is fairly informal, and while most of us shoot 100 yards some guys will shoot 200, and/or use different sized targets.

To be general about it, what we do is shoot rounds in different positions having different time limits at targets with scoring rings. 52 shots toatal with 2 being sighters at the beggining, so a perfect score would be 500 all in the x ring. there is an x ring worth 10 that can also serve as a tie breaker, say if two guys both shoot 470 but one of them has 3 x's and one has 5 x's then the one with 5 x's wins.
so, we would shoot (I cant remember the exact course)
10 rounds standing in 5 minutes
10 rounds sitting/kneeling in 5 minutes
10 rounds prone in 5 minutes
20 rounds prone in 20 minutes

after each phase we would walk down and score our targets.

lots of fun !

see you there........

Actually: 10 rnds standing 10 minutes
10 rnds standing to sitting or kneeling 60 secs. Although we allow extra time to finish.
10 rnds standing to prone 70 secs. also allow extra time to finish.
20 rnds prone 20 minutes.

As for when the next practice/practice is you'll haave to check the club forum.

The club guns and ammo are only available during the club practice on the first sunday of the month. The ammo cost is reallatively cheap.

well, the club CMP is first Sunday of each month at 9am on the rifle range. The club AR and M1's are brought out for that.

As for the practice/practice or paractice/practice/practice Hawk Koli Rolmoney and such meet up there usually the sunday before the first Sunday and every other chance they get You should PM koli/hawk/roland with questions as to when they will meet again. I know Koli was nice enough to bring out his mini14 for me to use on one of those times to try it out with them.

On the official unofficial club CMP if you use the club gun then you have to use the club ammo. I think (may be wrong) its $5 with your own gun and ammo and $20 for club gun and ammo. ????? ask Roland that one.
