In IDPA, 2 extra mags on the belt.

In Single Stack/L10 I like 5 on the belt. Limited...3.

You could shoot Limited and load the high capacity mags full, but you would be scored Minor and that would be at somewhat of a disadvantage. You could also shoot Open division and be scored major if the 9mm was hot enough, but then you would compete against optics, compensators and 29 round magazines......

Short answer: The division where the gun fits best will be limited to 10 rounds in the mag.

Do you happen to know what load would make a 9mm PF 165??

Well in SSP and Production don't you only need 125?

As for loads....look at this:

For SSP, PF 125. But I am unsure about USPSA. I was curious because I was always told that it was not realalistic for a 9mm to have a 165 PF. I don't know if it is possible or safe. I shoot an XD-45 now so it doesn't really effect me one way or another. I was considering buying an M&P9, but only because I want it. Well, maybe I will try SSP with it. I was sort of wanting a Springfield 1911, but I saw that S&W still has the promotion running for $ savings and mags. I think I am going to take advantage of that while I can and wait on the 1911. The odds of the big 1911 sale seem to be slim and none.... And slim is out of town.

USPSA Production is 125 too. Very fun to shoot light loads like that. Loading to 165 isn't going to help you anyhow because USPSA mandates that you need at least .40 to make major in L10 and Limited.......no matter how fast you push that nine.

You can load a 9mm to major, but you need to load longer than usual and use slow powders......you will be running the edge of pressure on that one. There is no reason to do it for your application.

How about a Taurus 1911? With some trigger work and a magwell, I'd not hesitate to run one in competition.

Sort of had my heart set on the Springer. No ryme or reason, just what I wanted.

Also, there seems to be more .40 and .38 super in USPSA than IDPA. I guess the versatility of classifacation is why?? I know that's why I opted for
XD-45. ESP and CDP, and with handloads the gun is really alot of fun.

Well, .40 dominates Limited and .38 Super and the variants are the only way to fly in Open. 9mm is the bread winner in Production. Room for everyone.

In IDPA ESP it's all .38 super, 9mm and some smattering of .40 around here. I think it depends on the locale.
