At the local level no one is going to turn you away.
In a large match, yeah. UncleM, I have your avatar on my car rear window.

The only other thing I would add is if you decide to join, do so through your local club. Usually the local club makes a few bucks when enrolling members in IDPA or USPSA.
Thanks! Corey

That logo is catchy isn't it? I will probably end up doing this then. Is it possible to join at the first match or should one have already joined before the first match?

You can just join at the first match you attend. As mentioned earlier most clubs don't push membership for a club level match.
We like to see the sport grow, but would rather shooters come out and support the local club.

USPSA does not require you to join to shoot local matches, but you need to be a member to shoot at larger major mathes. If you are not a member then your classifiers will not count toward the national classifiction system and you will not have acces to about half of the USPSA website.
IDPA has a requirement that you must join to shoot local matches, not all clubs follow this and allow non-memebers to shoot. I believe that you have a one match grace period. |

USPSA clubs do not gain anything financially with signing up shooters to the parent organization.

I don't mean to be a cheap ass, but I'd rather spend the money on ammo and make it to more matches, since I only plan to attend local ones this season anyway.
