Default scotia auxiliary ranges

Hey everyone. I just started following these forums a couple of days ago. I've seen the auxiliary ranges at Scotia mentioned a couple of times and the comment "almost anything goes." Is this true? I was under the assumption that all PGC ranges were paper targets only. I would really enjoy plinking a steel resetting target with a .22 rifle or a pistol, but I don't want to invest the cash in a target or become a nuisance at the range by breaking rules.

Can anyone confirm any official regulations for the auxiliary ranges? Thanks.

Aux range is to follow offical rules. That is what PGC says and if the officers come by they can and will cite you for violation of the rules. That being said it has been known to be a little more lax out there at times but I would NOT invest in that steel unless you know you have somewhere else to shoot it.

Cheers,
Josh

Ditto what 'medic" said. However, shooting plastic jugs filled with water, or using clay pigeons as targets, etc. typically won't raise too many eyebrows unless you don't clean up after yourself. DO NOT EVER SHOOT GLASS OBJECTS. Not only will the RO's ban you, other shooters may take matters into their own hands for spoiling it for everyone in the future. The Aux range is accessible even when the main ranges are closed but the PGC could change that if people abuse that area.

If your not sure about metallic swinging targets, stop by the range office and talk to them, explain what you want to do and explain where you are going to do it and if you already have the targets, show them to the RO and see what he says.

Thanks guys. This was pretty much the info that I was looking for. I didn't think the rules would be any different. I'll stick to the paper targets and make sure that I have a range to shoot at for free.

I asked about it while back. RO(chatty one) told me that he may not care about it too much if you use it. But if other RO or encon catch you using it, you might get hefty fine.

Someone did say "Anything goes". Its more like "almost anything within reason"

RO more then likely look the other way if your shooting Cray pigion, Water battle, soda can, or do rapid fire(Big no no at main rifle range). But within reason. As long as noone elses are complaining, you pick up after yourself - Some shooter there needs real reenforcement on this - and you don't piss off RO.

With that being said, Chatty RO came down and scremed at me when I did the bump fire. He told me that I'd be banned if I don't take my GF out to dinner... weirld

You can see my GF and I go there alot...
