I know Bruce is knowledgeable and would likely be a good trainer, and he is in your area.

It is a melancholy truth that a suppression of the press could not more completely deprive the nation of its benefits than is done by its abandoned prostitution to falsehood.” |

As far as laws, that's easy. Check out http://www.pafoa.org/law for details, and also http://paopencarry.org/ if "open carry" interests you. Generally you don't need a license to purchase a firearm, but you will need a concealed carry permit for just that, concealed carry. You'll find that suburban/rural Pennsylvania's a completely different world than Philadelphia, where all weapons legal under 27 CFR 178 & 179 are also legal in PA. That means you may have the option of putting a suppressor (AKA "silencer") on your handgun if you have the time and inclination.A lot of folks are drifting in this direction for impromptu & discreet pistol practice either in their basement or backyards.

There is an NRA PPOTH class running in late May that may still have an open spot:

Classic Pistol has a pretty good 1-day CCW class, with advice on gear; legality lecture; and shooting drills. That's how I started out. I recommend it:
www.classicpistol.com ...NOT the same as their "Concealed Carry Firearms Permit Class," which is a FLA permit class. Other area ranges with training classes (haven't taken any there; can't vouch one way or another): www.pistolpeople.com www.rafire.com/raf |

Ready, aim, fire in bristol is a great place to shoot and to learn about different laws about concealed carry and judgement things and safety... and it's really close to fairless hills. It's in bristol. The one guy there mark is very knowlegable and the most freindly range guy i've ever met. they even have ladies night where it's all women and all they have to pay for is ammo and I heard they even have range instructors there to help first tiem shooters out... Ready aim fire over classic pistol anyday...
http://www.rafire.com/and conceal carry permits can be aquired at the bucks county government office at 5 points in levvitown... takes 4-7 buisness days and you don't need one to own a gun, just to carry in a vehicle or concealed carry. It's a great id to get one and it also doubles as a second form of id. just bring 46 dollars cash and your id and know two of your friend's addresses and it's yours. http://www.buckscounty.org/governmen...onsPermit.aspx welcome to bucks county...

There is a club on Old Morrisville Rd. - next rd S. of Rt1, E. of 13 that has classes. It might be the Fairless Hills Gun Club.. I think that I remember them adv. a, or some, classes. Indoor/outdoor - seems nice. Take a drive & check'em out, eh?
Or, I sure, the guys @ Ready Aim Fire (located where the PA TPK meets Rte. 13) will be more than willing to take your $$ and have you in a class. Good luck/fortune/shooting. Berk
