Lake City was one of the larger defense ammo suppliers (back till at least the 30's). Even today they are a major supplier.

Most 'match' brass has its own stamp. Sometimes as simple a 'Match'.

But no, not all LC brass is match. I would go so far to say that all LC brass is MILSPEC.. thicker brass for MG actions.

Lake City Army Ammunition Plant is a US government facility run by contract operators. Federal was running it for years but somebody new is operating it now. LC never made “Match” ammunition in 223/5.56. Nor did anyone else for USGI consumption. LC made 30-06, 308 and 45ACP Match at one time and this is marked “Match” in some way. Before WW2 and up till ’54 Frankfort Arsenal loaded match ammo in 30-06. Some contracts have been let for competition ammo, I know Black Hills made some. But, this was made for competition use. When I was in boot camp we used “Match” marked ammo at 500 yards (30-06) and I used some 7.62 marked “Match” for sniping in Vietnam. LC makes blank ammo in 30-06, 7.62 and 5.56. I don’t know about 30 Carbine or 45ACP. They also make 30-40 ammo for line launching guns.

Little info on Lake City...

http://www.globalsecurity.org/milita...p-lakecity.htm

From site....
In 1985, Olin Corporation won a bid to operate the plant and is its present contractor. Lake City is currently the only active small-caliber ammunition manufacturing facility within the Department of Defense.

Not Federal.....Olin is the parent of Winchester.

In april of 2000 , Alliant Tech Systems took over operations of Lake City Arsenal and as of July of this year they were still in charge .Federal cartrige is a subsidary of Alliant Tech Systems

I knew there was a change, but not the details. I have read that when Federal lost the contract they sold all existing ammo inventory to the civilian market so that the new manufacturer could start with zero inventory. That way any ammo delivered to the US was made by rhe new guys.
