New security proceedure at the Courthouse

I had some official business at the courthouse yesterday with the Sheriff.

It seems that the security proceedures have changed, at least for an LTCF holder such as myself.

You now have to walk into the main door and tell the security officer that you wish to check your firearm. Then they radio another officer and have them meet you at the old entrance to the courthouse. He opens the door (setting off the alarm) and lets you in. You then walk in and around the corner to the gun lockers. The officer does up the receipt and locks up your handgun.

Then you walk back outside (unarmed) and go through the security checkpoint as normal. When ready to leave you walk around to the old entrance with the officer and he gives your gun back and you go out the door, again setting off the alarm.

I saw a HUGE security flaw but I don't want to post that on public forum right now. I did email the Head of Courthouse security my concern. I'll see what happens.

I think e-mailing the head of security about a possible flaw was the way to go. Kudos on your restraint.
