Default Re: Casull out of a rifle - is it a good idea?

I like the idea too, so you are not alone. I almost bought one, but ended up getting the Marlin Cowboy model in .45 Colt instead. I just liked the Marlin more, and with hot .45 Colt loads, it can do just about anything a .454 can. The Marlin has crappy sights and a heavy trigger, but those can be easily remedied. One of my friends has the Puma in .45 Colt and he likes it a lot. No problems that I know of.

I can't see how recoil would be a problem, even with .454 rounds. I'm guessing it really didn't catch on because of all the .45 Colt lever guns out there. With a hot .45 Colt load and the extra velocity from the barrel length, it can take just about anything at close range.
