Re: Almost Squirrel Season
I've been following this thread with interest, as my 10 year old son has also expressed interest in hunting squirrels this year. He doesn't turn 11 for two more months, so he isn't able to take the HTE test yet. I completed the class yesterday, so he will be able to hunt with me under PA's Mentored Youth Hunting program.
I've been a shooter all my life, and shot a few groundhogs and a rabbit here or there, but have never actually been a 'licensed hunter' or dressed out any game. Since I believe that we shouldn't just be hunting to kill something, I need to learn (so I can in turn teach my son) how to dress them and then prepare them to be eaten. My wife has no interest in this (and that's fine with me), so I'm on my own.
Personal experience seems to be a better resource than some "How to" texts, so how about it....anyone have their own tried and true techniques and recipes?
